Thank you for visiting Peavy Maltipoos. We're a home based breeder located in central Minnesota.
All of our puppies go to their new homes with a heartbeat snuggle puppy. This helps make the transition to their new families much easier.
Our adult dogs are all health tested and cleared by Embark Vet. All of our breeding dogs, both boys and girls live as full-time family pets. Litters are born and raised in our home and all of these precious babies are cuddled every day and given many advantages from the beginning. Each puppy is socialized early with humans of all ages. We honestly love every puppy that we raise, and we take pride in delivering a well-rounded, well socialized family treasure.
We have 5 female poodles. Jazmin is black sable and weighs 10 pounds. Jena is red and white and weighs 12 pounds. Our stud is Jack a Maltese. Jack weighs 5 pounds. Our females Jozie, Jett and Jill have been retired and will spend their lives with us. Our dogs are CKC and AKC registered.
Our puppies are ready to go to their new homes at 8-10 weeks of age. They will be vet checked and have their first set of immunizations. We worm our puppies every 2 weeks, starting at 2 weeks of age. They will come with a puppy care package that includes a sample of the puppy food we feed, a snuggle heartbeat puppy, a blanket with moms scent and a toy. We require a $500 non-refundable deposit to be added to our waiting list. The deposits apply to the total price of our puppies Our puppies are $1800.
We start early neurological stimulation with our puppies when they are 3 days old. We expose our puppies to many different noises to help desensitize them to everyday sounds. Our puppies are exposed to many different things to help make a calmer adult dog. These include toys, tunnels, climbing devices, slides and people of all ages. We will have started crate and potty training our puppies before they go to their new homes.
• Toy puppies are susceptible to hypothermia, being too cold, which leads to hypoglycemia. When a cold puppy shivers its blood sugar drops. Please keep your puppy warm. A heating pad that turns off when the puppy moves off it is ideal.
• Hypoglycemia, low blood sugar, in puppies can be fatal. Symptoms are weakness, tiredness and lack of coordination. Treatment is to rub Karo syrup on the puppy’s gums and follow with a small meal. Offering multiple feedings, a day during the first 6 months of a dog's life will help prevent hypoglycemia. Nutrical is another treatment for hypoglycemia. If your puppy does not respond to Karo syrup or Nutrical please seek veterinarian treatment asap.
• Crate training your puppy is recommended. Confining a puppy when you are not with them protects them from harm. A small playpen which provides room for food and water, a pee pad, a bed, heating pad and toys is optimal. This will also aid in potty training. We have started potty training on pee pads.
• Handling your puppy with a firm grip is critical. Broken bones and fatalities can occur when small puppies are dropped or fall from a couch/bed.
• Socializing your puppy is very important. Your puppy will have one vaccination before you receive him/her. They will require more vaccinations to be fully protected. Be very careful about taking your puppy to places where there are unvaccinated dogs. Animal parks, pet stores, boarding and grooming facilities can all have parvo on the ground. Parvo is deadly.
• Tear stains are very common in small light-colored dogs. We recommend washing your puppies face daily with a cotton ball saturated with contact lens saline. Do not use plastic water bowls as these can harbor bacteria.
• We feed Royal Canin puppy brand food and will supply you with a sample when you bring your puppy home.
